About

Some things you build
for yourself first.

This is the story behind Shingobee.

Five elements. One complete ritual.

01 · Canvas Threshold

Covered comfort for every season.

Change your layers, change your state.

Transition matters.

Real wood. Real fire. Real heat.

The kind that takes time to build.

The way Finnish tradition intended.

02 · Fire

The Finnish steam ritual.

Water poured over hot stones.

Heat that wraps around your whole body.

03 · Löyly

Summer: cold plunge and waterfall bucket shower.

Winter: Nordic air and snow.

Minnesota sets the temperature. We work with it.

04 · Contrast

Open fire. Open sky.

Fireside conversations or silence.

Ground yourself in the elements.

05 · Grounding

Built in a backyard.
Built to be private.

The Name

Shingobee comes from zhingob — the Ojibwe word for balsam fir.

An evergreen rooted in strength, resilience,

and steadiness through every season.

Rooted, steady, enduring — that's the energy here.

Fog drifting through a dense pine forest in the Northwoods

The Tradition

I've been in a sauna since I was five.
Started on the South Shore of Woman Lake.

A family tradition, a primal knowing.

Heat, cold, stillness, nature — the original healing agents.
I've spent my whole life coming back to them.

Why This Place Exists

My nervous system needed this place to exist.
Maybe yours does too.

A place that feels safe.
A place to come back to yourself — again and again.

OUR MISSION

To create a safe, nature-anchored space to step out of the noise

+ come back to yourself.

Awaken + Reclaim

WHO THIS IS FOR

I didn't build this for the wellness crowd.

I built it for real people who need somewhere real to go.

For the ones who might not even realize how disconnected they've become.

Something wakes up when you're here.

Come as you are.

That's enough.
